Need help compressing massive file size

a little over two years ago I shot a documentary with a 100a, 24p (not pa), full screen (which later i stretched and cropped to 185, this was before I shot with wide screen adapters), and the problem I'm having is getting the whole doc to compress onto a DVD.

TR = 59min 46sec / i'm using semi pro gear, but editing on prem pro 2.0, I have the whole production suite so I also have after effects 7 and encore, and audition, etc... i've tried using sorenson squeeze but it won't take the file, uncompressed the file falls around 96gigs, for quick reference purposes I was able to break the movie down into 15min segments and export as quicktime sorenson 3 compression... this method did fit the entire film on one disk, but it also screwed up a lot of lighting and color, added pixel tearing, and ultimately made the end result resemble VHS.

anyway, if anyone can offer any advice it would be much appreciated, thanks in advanced.

An hour of DV is only 12-13 gigs -- how did it get up to 96?

Will Premiere take the file? Did you try exporting as DV AVI and letting Encore compress it to MPEG 2 for DVD?

Do you still have the original project file?

Like David said, use the built-in Premiere MPEG encoder or export a DV-AVI and bring that into Encore to encode.

I would suggest avoiding Sorenson unless you're compressing for web.
