Need HELP ASAP!

I have a project due tomorrow i have been working on for over a week. Its all cut and dandy but after I export it to an AVI super high quality, sometimes when it cuts from one shot to another it looks like the one frame is showing the "before" image and "next" image 50/50. I edited it in vegas and shot 24P and exported to an avi. When I rewind it sometimes the cuts that are "flashing"(50-50) dont and the ones that didnt do...so it happens different times..WTF?

Re: Need HELP ASAP!

What is your final destination -- are you playing it on a television, dumping it out to VHS tape, etc? Or will it be played from the computer?

If you're playing it from a VHS or DVD onto a television, there won't be any 50/50 flashing (which is interlacing). If you're playing it from a computer, the problem would likely be traced to how you output the .AVI: did you output a DV .avi? If so, it will add interlaced frames to make the video compatible with NTSC. If you're playing it to computer, you don't want to use the DV presets (like "DV 24P Widescreen" or whatever), you'd rather use a multimedia type preset. So let us know what your target display device is and hopefully someone can help you further.

Then you're going to have interlaced lines in your files. DV is an interlaced format -- well, more specifically, NTSC is an interlaced medium, and DV files are always interlaced.

Have you played it back out to a TV?
