Hello!
I am a film school student bracing himself to take a loan out to get his hands on some much needed equipment. I'm trying to found the right stuff to invest my borrowed money into.
I'm willing to take out 10,000 at most. That's what I have to work with.
Since I have a PC that can't handle to much video editing, I'm definitely using some of that money to get a Mac Pro desktop.
Now on to the camera. I shot a little bit with the DVX100b. I really enjoyed the camera. Since I'm new to shooting, I enjoyed it's ease of use, and it seems like a great camera to learn with.
The HVX200 looks great, but the P2 card situation is scary to me. Seems like a lot of peripheral costs there.
I'm considering buying a DVX100B with a Redrock Encore Indie bundle.
My aim is to get into narratives and music videos. I intern with a company that produces commercials and music videos, so with the contacts I have made so far, I hope to learn as much as possible on my own during the remainder of film school so by the time I'm finished, I can have a nice reel going. I don't have much experience with cameras other than a shoot with the DVX, and I have no experience with the adapter. I figure once I have my hands on it, I can practice, practice, practice.
Would the 100b and Redrock be a good investment, or will the camera fast be outdated? Should I consider something else? Possibly a DSLR? I'm completely ignorant to all of this, so hopefully someone can guide me.
