Need Feedback! Short Film on Nature/Pollution I made.

Essentially for CWI class, I was assigned to spread awareness about an issue that I felt was important to me currently. I chose to focus on pollution and spreading the importance to keep our environment protected. To do this, I made a short film (inspired by the recent BBC series "Planet Earth) that would hopefully show and demonstrate why "our" nature is important.

The short film is about 6 minutes long... it features music from Aphex Twin and M83... and all the footage was captured in the Pacific Northwest area... more specifically Seattle, Washington.

I would be extremely appreciative if you guys could leave some comments because essentially the goal of the project was to raise awareness...

Hope you guys enjoy.

(also) This was shot with a Sony FX1... but because that forum is essentially dead... I posted here. I normally wouldn't but I needed some feedback soon. So after tommorrow mods can move this thread wherever they want.

Simple but nice piece of work, good angles and framing. I just think the cuts in the editing are bit jarring, maybe some crossfades?? Just my opinoin.

I found the short confusing.

There were what could have been nice nature shots complete with beautiful, serene music, but the colors were off. They were neither shots of actual polution, nor were they accurately rendered nature shots (except for one) -- this had me baffled, and I was trying to figure out if there was a problem with my QuickTime installation.

It wasn't until 3:45 into the video that the purpose became clear, but even then I think the images weren't appropriate for the message. If you want to show polution, show polution -- don't just tweak the colors. Show smokestacks belching, oily waters smothering waves, plastic containers clogging creeks etc., and intercut that with untouched nature to show the stark contrast.

And don't put the things that people can do to help reduce the problem after the credits.
