Need and explanation on differences between MTS and JES->ProRes conversion

I had the opportunity to do some tests, and here is something that may mean I'm not setting the JES conversion parameters correctly. (I've not tried commerical packages since Neoscene crashed on my Mac OS X system...

What it looks like, is JES in converting the data, boosts the 'black' level to 7.5% IRE, and also seems to lower the max to slighly less than 100%.

I composited the Premiere views to show the difference. I took a spot meter reading off of the sunlight wall, then opened up 2 stops, and shot. The MTS wave form shows the 'whites' just reaching the 100%, and I've turned off the 7.5% radio buttone, and so the 'blacks' are at 0%.

The ProRes version shows reduced high values, and stepped up lows.

So, either 1) no one uses JES, 2) no one realizes that there are two options, 'video' and 'full range', on both input and output setups, and just uses the 'default' which is 'video'...

But in any case, JES Deinterlacer has a 'video' and 'full range' option on input and output that select either 1) a 7.5% IRE setup on black, and a bit of compression on white 2) the 'full range' that
does not introduce the setup black level, or compress whites...

Now I got to figure out what the 'gamma' both input and output do???
