Need Advice to Create Scene File to match project

I have a client who came across an unrelated video on the web that they would like to emulate, exactly. I would greatly appreciate if fellow AF100 users could analyze it and tell me how much was done in camera, or in post. I hate to shoot "flat", not knowing on location how well it can look but understand the concept that the editor will then have maximum flexibility. It's just that the clients watching the monitor on location may not understand why the image looks so poor.

I have come across behind the scenes stills and know it was shot DSLR. I personally don't like the highlights blown out on faces but if that's what the client wants...I see a lot of negative fill, and a lot of desaturation before the grocery store scene.

I watched the video with my editor and he feels much of the look was done in post. I will record directly onto the internal SD cards, probably 1080/24P. In other words, I think I need to make this AF100 look as much as a 5D as possible, in fact maybe I should have bought the 5D since the requests for that "look" are so numerous?

So if you could watch the video at the link below and let me know what you think in terms of settings, and if you are a post person what filters, FX, plug ins, etc. were used in post, I'd greatly appreciate it. Then I will run some tests. Thank you

Hey Ned- user editman has 5D settings that are in the Scene File Sticky, about halfway down the page (along with lots of others):

I used them for BTS of a music video that was shot with a (flat) 5D- once graded, they were pretty close.

There's also this:

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the blown out facial highlights in the example video either.
And be careful (as you probably know by now) if you shoot anything like the blown out window at the end- it could get ugly...

Best of luck,
Chuck

Editman 5D settings are pretty good. Looking at the video it looks like most of not all the look was done in post though, the tones on the outside shots are significantly warmer and the inside have the Teal bias. Personally I would shoot as shallow DOF a poss and grade accordingly.

From that teal bias and the crushed blacks it looks to me like they've added some MB Mojo or maybe Looks.

A decent colorist and flame artist would be able to emulate those looks if provided with well shot footage from the AF100.

They are not burnt in looks from the camera.
