Hi,

I am looking to purchase a used HVX200 which has 341 hours used on it's heads. The camera is in mint condition and has been very well taken care by it's owner. The price works out to be around 4600.00 and includes 2 battery chargers, 2 x 3 hour batteries, a Portabrace rain/wind jacket, a pelican hard case, Tamron 82mm UV filter, shoemount, along with all the necessary cables. He is looking to offload this quick and he is in a bit of a money bind and already has a couple of interested parties.

What I am looking to find is if this is a good deal? The camera is a year and half old so it's out of warranty and doesn't include any P2 cards.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

The hours really don't scare me if it appears the camera has been cared for properly. Run some tape through the camera and see how it performs. Any hitches or glitches?

The hours also should not impact the performance of the P2 system which I would hope is the feature you are really after. Again, stick a couple of P2 cards in the camera and put it through its paces. Make sure everything works as it should.

If everything works properly, in addition to the added items, I would say this is a good price. Chargers, batteries, a Pelican case and Portabrace cover are all great additions making that price attractive...to me.

I am sure it is not 341 hours on the heads, but rather on camera itself. That is my best guess. Even if it is Tape Head hours, That still aint much, being you are going to stop wasting P2 Technology and to the P2 cards. :)

I can definitely run some tape through the camera to see how it performs, but he doesn't have any P2 cards. Would you rent them to do the test?

It's 341 hours on the heads and I think 91 hours using P2 cards. He rented the cards every time he used them for a job.

I am definitely after the P2 system as I want to shoot HD otherwise there is no reason to get this camera. But I want to make sure that if I do shoot SD everything will be fine. Again, out of warranty makes me a bit nervous but the price seems good.

Are you in Europe? I ask as Panasonic extended the warranty to HVX owners from 1 year to 2. And it didn't matter if you biught before they did they. You can get the two years worked out from date of purchase.

But that's europe only. Also whats the price 4600? $$$, £££ or Euros?

Thanks
Richard
