Need a lens for A7s

He probably means 20mm pancake which is an APSC lens.

FF E-mount lenses have "FE" label.

Sorry! I meant Canon 40mm pancake....it's like $150 I believe.

I only have a regular A7 so far, the lenses I use the most is my Minolta MDs an Konica lenses. They cost 10-20 dollars a pop but give me nice results. My favourites are probably the Konica 40/1.8, Vivitar 24/2.8 but the best is the Rokkor 50/1.7,

OK, thanks. But that one is not that small once you add the adapter. It's an option in any case: cheap and sharp and in general just nice (except for the focus ring), plus I already have one that I can borrow.

I personally use a Canon 24-105 F/4 L IS lens on my FS700. It ballances well on that camera and covers the majority of your shooting range.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it gets almost 2 stops darker when you zoom in to the full range, so it's t-stop isn't consistant. I've heard better things about the canon 24-70 F4 IS but have never tested it.

IS is going to be critical for the smaller A7s due to the weight difference between that and the FS700.

I got rid our our team's Canon 24-105 because there was a small exposure shift as we zoomed, and it was driving me crazy. I thought I was crazy as I had not read anyone else experiencing the same phenomenon. It was not much, less than a stop, but we were doing multicam C100 setups so we really needed consistent exposure.

I've tested all my canon lenses with a metabones adapter (III) and none of them will autofocus - 17-55/f2.8, 24-105/f4, 70-200/f4, 24/f1.4, Tokina 11-17/f2.8. But the other electronic functions work just fine. I see that Sigma is releasing a 24-105/f4 next month with OIS and an alpha mount. It looks like this could be the ideal "walk around" lens for the A7s.

I would go for Zeiss C/Y lenses. They are in many regards as nice optically as newer Zeiss ZF, ZE and ZM's and still have the nice Zeiss micro contrast (or pop or 3D, choose one).
If you are more to the Leica look have a look at either Leica lenses (D'oh!) or if that is too much to spend Minolta Rokkor lenses. A selection of the Rokkor's can (to some extend) be compared to Leica lenses. Where they suffer compared to Leica's are edge/corner sharpness and resolution - the colours are where they are very comparable.

The newer Minolta AF lenses can autofocus on Sony's Alpha mount and with the EA-LA4 adapter they can autofocus on A7 cameras as well. They are quite good optically as well.
Rokinon's could be quite nice as well - just not a big fan of the build quality and look (prefer legacy lenses)

Lastly and if you have more money to spare I would have a look at Schneider's new Xenon FF primes. They would be killer on the A7.

This is very subjective and highly depends on what style you have and what you shoot. These are the lenses I use and are going to use with my A7s - with the Schneider's being my future lenses.

From Sigma's website about the lens:
"For Sony, OS function is not incorporated".
So again you have to choose. A-mount and auto focus, or canon mount and stabilisation.
