I need a microphone to go under a animal costume that someone is wearing. Needs to be close to the mouth. I assume I will get some distortion from maybe the costume rubbing. any ideas
thanks
Hi, could I bend the front to conform the mic closer to the mouth? It is a Big head costume, and there is only less then an inch distance of the mouth when it hits the inside of the costume. Not a lot of room.
I would like to find a microphone that if the lips hit it, it will still be ok.
That is the mic but I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you will also need a wireless set up for this.
If you don't already own one and this is not a project with a decent budget you are probably looking at renting since the combo is going to set you back about $1,000 min.
I take it the E6 gives professional sound quality? Do you have a E6 setup you would recommend. Either from Amazon or BH.
And in that price range, that would be my best choice? Does that have a XLR output or 3.5?
The E6 uses the same capsule as the B6 lav. It is a splendid mic. I have two B6 lavs in my wireless kit.
You can order the E6 terminated as you need, so you'll need to order it for the specific wireless system you're using. If you already have a wireless system, simply order the mic terminated for it. If you don't have a wireless system, then please see the yellow sticky about those.
Thanks again, and yes I do have a couple of Sennheiser wireless systems that this would work with.
The reason I asked if it has an XLR adapter is if it would would work with the Zoom H6 recorder?
I saw on amazon there is a [h=1]Countryman IsoMax E6 Replacement Cable[/h]This has the XLR cable plug. Should work.
Thank you for your time.
The powering of the lav connected to a wireless system is not the same as phantom power so you can't just "adapt" them you have to use some sort of power converter. This "replacement cable" may have that built into the XLR plug so that may work. The Rode lavs have a changeable plugs and the XLR version takes care of the power conversion.
Point is that as a rule you can not use the same mic for wired and wireless unless you have some kind of conversion device. The Rode is the only one I know of that was designed with interchangeability in mind, though I'm sure there are others.
***** Correction *****
It seems that Countryman E6 is in the same boat. They sell cables that will work with just about anything and it's not a big deal to do the replacement.
I'm adding the correction rather than changing the upper part because these are the only two that I have heard of that can field change to a different connector so for most lavs the above warning still holds.
