NECESSARY or NOT?

I'm getting ready to get a new MacPro and FCP7 to cut footage with my GH 1, and just wanted know, is NEOSCENE NECESSARY or the PREFERRED way to convert AVCHD footage. Basically, does FCP do a better job than NEOSCENE or vice versa. If this has been answered and or covered please direct me to the link. Thank you.
