ND filter... how many stops does it cut light by?

Hello,

So Im am intending to use my stock camera to pre-light a set before i get my lenses. I am wondering how many stops the nd settings cut the light by. Can I approximate the lenses before I get them?

The ND filter on the HVX cuts three stops at the 1/8 setting, 6 stops at the 1/64 setting.
