Nature Short Video

Spent a day hiking in Sumter National Forest on Fall Creek which flows into the Chattooga River. It was mostly overcast which taxed my camera's low light capability but I managed to get enough footage for this short. Shot using a Panasonic HPX170. Edited with Edius 5.5 and encoded with TMPGEnc 4 express. Music “Above the Clouds” by B. Crutchfield and is licensed for use from audiojungle.com. Additional audio from “Volivieri” at freesound.org.

Beautiful work. I'm very interested in shooting natural settings with the HPX170. What settings did you use to overcome the overcast conditions that you shot in? Thank you, Kamau

Nice job Mark. Anyone who says the HPX170 can't produce great images or limited DOF shots needs to see this. Well you had a hand in it too!

very nice, did you use any lens adapters? macro? I find my macro lens was a great addition to my hpx170's capabilities(for shallow)

Yes, in three shots (coneflower, web, spider) a B+W screw on +3 closeup adapter was used. I have not had it long and am still learning how to use it. It has razor thin DOF and degrades the resolution slightly which is compensated with 10% sharpening in post.

Beautiful, Mark!

Especially love the web with water drops at :54 and spider CU (well, all the CUs!) and the creek bottom at 1:28.
The slider shot's quite nice, too.

Are the last 2 shots slow shutter or an effect?

Gorgeous as always!

Thanks, the last two shots are a "motion blur" filter in Edius 5.51. Works best when there are stationary objects (rocks, no wind blown foliage) to contrast with the motion blur in the water. Just like doing a photo with a long shutter speed.
