Well, yesterday i was experimenting with cropping to 2.35:1 and i needed some footage to test on, so i went around the area i live to film some stuff and sorta ended up making a nature montage and messing around with scene files a little bit as well. It was filmed in 24P with no anamorphic adapter, so its all stock. The goal wasnt to get great/good footage as you will see, but just to test the 2.35:1 cropping. (and it shows)

i have to say, i do enjoy making nature films and montages with my dvx, its a good way for me to relax and make films at the same time.

the link that craigbowman listed on his post is really quite interesting, the whole site is full of films made using the DVX camera that really inspired me. the quality of the pictures are quite stunning when you consider the DVX is essentially a 4:3 chip dv camera. there are lots of other films aside from nature on the site including the DVXUser Film Fest Zombie Film Competition.

i reccomend giving it a quick look...

I have beeen using a 2.35:1 mask lately and I think it gives a lot of people a bigger impresssion it was shot on film. Even if it does cut off a lot of footage, as long as you frame and compose for 2:35 shots then they look great.

i recently learned what i used wasnt a 2.35:1 mask, do you think you could link me to a zip file with yours?
thanks

Thewho, great work, keep at it. I would have liked to have seen all dissolves as I favor them over other transitions.

Man, Pine Lake Films, that guy is amazing, I can't wait to get my camera!!!
