Nasty Vertical Bars

Can someone please tell me where these disgusting vertical bars are coming from in the screengrab I attached. I can't figure out if it's an interlacing issue, a field dominance issue, a color issue, a capture issue, a sequence issue, etc. It's definitely most evident in bright colors.

Please note that I zoomed waaaay in on this clip to show the bars closeup, so don't mind the low resolution, etc. I'm only concerned with those vertical blocks. This happened to another video that I was editing recently and I've been trying everything to get this looking good. I didn't actually shoot this clip but I'm fairly certain it was shot at 24p. The other vid this happened in I did shoot and was at 24p - both on DVX 100a and captured/edited on Final Cut.

Thanks for any suggestions. I feel like I have to be missing something obvious.

If it's really zoomed in, it looks about right, especially in colors containing red.

But is this the original DV files as captured or is this an export?

It's an export... but it looks just as nasty in its captured state. Here - I'll attach a screen grab from the DV captured file, unzoomed.

Can you post a screen shot at actual size?

In any case, that's a really small section of the frame you zoomed in on. The frame is only 720x480; the section you zoomed in on is probably 20x30 or so. It would not be at all unusual to see artifacting like that in DV at 4:1:1 at that level of zoom -- or 4:2:0, but it would be horizontal instead.

i'm not sure why the pic is getting shrunk. I'm going to try again.

I realize I zoomed in a lot, but when you play the actual video at normal size, its really noticeable. I've been shooting with this camera for 4 years and while I've always noticed the color sampling, it's never been as dramatic as these recent two videos... as I said, it's borderline unwatchable.

Can I post vid clips on here?

Best thing to do for an image is upload it to your Member Upload Center, and then use
.

You can post upload .zip files with video in them, but most video clips will be too big.
