NASCAR in 4:4:4

NASCAR, straight from the pits... in 4:4:4! I give credit to the free sound project for the audio (http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/usersViewSingle.php?id=92661) I didn't bother with recording too much to audio to tape...

I was really impressed with the latitude of the raw clips. I gave it a higher contrast warm bleach bypass look in AE. I felt like it complimented the gritty nature of the pits during late afternoon time trials. Enjoy!

Oh, by the way, I'm finally 100% portable and battery powered :) I'm still in a small case enclosed video village setup, but its not that bad really. I'll post pics when I go into action this week, I've got nature shots on the brain.....

yeah, that footy looks pretty good, how do you get a focus since the rez is so much higher now? I wanna see pictures of this rig!

The footage looks nice. What gave you the idea to use that look?

I was wondering if you can tell me what you do with the Mac Mini to keep it out of the way. Also, how difficult is it to make the audio from tape match the audio to the Andromeda footage?

Another question, (sorry), Can you hook the Mac Mini up to a dell monitor and install Vegas 7 on that to edit... or do you need a Mac monitor and have to edit in Final Cut?

Please let me know when you get a chance.

Thanks

I just thought the whole pit area was really dirty...so a dirty look was called for :) at 4:4:4 10 bit RGB you can really give that footage just about any look you desire....

I currently keep the mini in a hard shell pelican case. I will eventually make the whole camera hand held and modular, but I don't quite have the funds for a $1,000 Anton Bauer battery system just yet... or a frame for the rig built. I'm quite content with the current set up though, for films and commercial production, its perfectly fine.

Syncing audio is easy provided you are organized with the way you shoot and edit.

You can use any editing suite. I'm not sure about the Dell monitor though.... right now I use a small touchscreen in the field. At home I use an Eizo FlexScan monitor (both PC and Mac capable).

I just focus using the LCD, petty simple really. I won't have pics for at least another day. My battery says it needs a full 24 hour charge, I'm only like 12 hours in now... :( guess I'll have to be patient!

great looking footage man,

Can we see some pics of the raw footage as it comes off andromeda against your colour corrected ones.

amazing footage. does that means in order to use the andromeda you have to connect the dvx to your mac all the time during shooting?

Yes. Not as bad as it sounds. I can shoot remotely with my setup now. Pretty soon it will be all hand held and Anton Bauer battery powered....

ok... my neck now is very long and eager to see your setup Chris! super excellent work! I wonder does andromeda accept orders outside USA. emailed them but no reply yet.

Hi Chris,
Do you know if the current macbook pro is powerful enough to edit the andromeda data and colour correct it? or is there any basic system?

puuuurrrty that is super nice mang!
I want 4:4:4 :(

No noise at all in the shadows, me wants...

Was that Magic Bullet CC?
