Name the "Krank" Winner Announcement

Chris Beller

Kessler Crane
First, thanks to everyone that submitted an entry for the Name the 'Krank' Challenge, the response was great.

The winning entry was:

Kwik Dolly

from DVXUser's own, Jason Adams (jason.adams).

Jason's entry was the closest to what we were looking for. The name that we have actually decided to go with for this product is the Pocket Dolly™.

For Jason's winning entry, he will receive a free Pocket Dolly™ from the first production run, which should be available by mid April.

I hope you had as much fun with this, as we did. There were some really great submission ideas that we received. A few of the others that really stood out to us for various reasons were:

Slide-o-Matic - Dial in for a smooth look.
Krank-n-Slide
Krankinator - Hasta la vista wobbly dolly shots!

Again, I want to thank everyone for all the great submissions.

Stay tuned for the release of the Pocket Dolly™, coming soon.

Thanks!
Chris

Sorry, but I don't get it. You held a competition, chose the name you liked best, then opted for a different name that in no way describes your product - what's 'pocket' about it?

I thought Krank was pretty good. It described your unique selling point, the thing that was going to differentiate you from other sliders.

Nice looking product - bemusing contest!

Grats Jason, I hope you'll do a little review of the product once you get your hands on it!

I must agree that "Krank" was a bold name, you guys should've kept that name. I had fun in this contest, thanks to the Kessler crew for putting it up!

This awesome. Big thanks to Kessler. I will definitely write up a quick review when I get this thing in my hands.

The idea behind the challenge was to see if someone could recommend a name that we thought was the best name for the product. Even though we decided to go with a name other than one that was submitted, we picked the entry that we felt best matched what we wanted to get across with the name, and awarded the prize.

We wanted everyone to have some fun, see what ideas people had, and award a free slider to somebody. If we were able to get a product name to use, great, that would be a bonus. Seems like a win-win for all of us.

"Krank" does describe the unique selling point, from other sliders, which is why we originally used that name. The problem is, as was pointed out in feedback we received, the name does not tell anyone what the product is. As was mentioned by others, we also learned it meant "sick" in German . We wanted someone to be able to see the name and immediately understand what the product was, a small portable dolly system.

Why Pocket Dolly™? It's a small dolly system you can throw in your back pocket (figuratively). It's small, light, and portable. The name also ties into another project we have been working on.

I hope that explains our thinking around the decisions we made. Thanks.

He´s just kidding.

We also use the german version of "sick" with two meanings - extremely good and ill.
Thou I would not use it as a product name.

That happens pretty often with any language.
Like "badass" doesn´t mean a bad arse at all, or cocksucker is considered - for some strange reason - as a bad man, not a good woman.

We never use "bro" thou....

Frank
