Nagging Canon hackers for a GH1 custom firmware update

I found a forum where the Canon camera firmware hackers and developers hang out. Some of them are progressing updates for other brands of cameras. Some of them have already opened up the TZ5 and LX3 firmware.

The famous hack for the Canon 5D MII to enable some manual controls (before Canon did it themselves) came from this source. The ability and knowhow is clearly there.

It is a request for the GH1 to be opened up and inspected. There may be tons of potential for the hackers to open up, including HDMI out and higher bitrates.

I suggest we post there, beg and nag until they're interested enough to get stuck into things...

LX3 Hack

LX3 Hack

Would you be able to point me to where I can find the LX3 firmware hack? Since the firmware upgrade, I haven't been able to use compatible batteries & that is a big problem for me in areas where electricity is limited. I use the LX3 for my underwater photography & 1 battery only lasts 2 dives for me. :angry:

I have the GF1 & am putting the hacked firmware to enable me to use compatible batteries too!
