NAB is over, so are you selling your FS700?

URSA: 16.5 lbs. Wow.
CION: PL mount only. I don't know, but I don't think other lenses adapt well.

They don't - the PL mount flange depth is the larger out there - going back involves completely rehousing lenses or, at best, carefully replacing the lens mount with a much thinner one.

The PL lens mount on the AJA CION is in fact removable and was designed with shorter focal flange distances in mind. As part of our effort to provide open connectivity throughout the entire product design, we are inviting third-parties to create adapters for lenses and lens mount systems that cover the APS-C sized sensor. This will mean that a variety of offerings with a variety of capabilities as well as a variety of price points should come to market answering the acknowledged need for flexibility among different users. AJA simply chose the PL lens mount as a starting point because it is an open and accepted professional standard and an array of high quality lenses are available worldwide in PL mount.

I hope this information is helpful,

It seemed a bit of a odd decision to go with a PL mount on a camera in that price bracket. I sort of assumed the production model would be interchangeable.

If you look at images of the camera it is pretty clear that there is lots of room for mounts of shorter depth if one was to replace the PL mount. It looks like AJA made the front housing of the camera as close to the sensor as it could to give room for other mounts.

So, had a sneak preview of the AJA Cion - great spec, lovely clean and simple design with nice mechanics and not overly menu based when it comes to functions. Had a lovely bit of tan suede to boot! Pretty damn close but for me, the lack of internal ND's and PL mount only, mean the FS700/ 7Q combo is still the only game in town - just. I really wish CD would up the pace of feature implementation mind. Getting kind of frustrating again.

Agreed, plus the AJA Cion sensitivity range is pretty far away from that of the FS700, and the DR certainly appears to be less by a stop or two. But I'm sure some people will be able to overlook those for the global shutter and familiar form factor.
