Myths ?

On the other board which is loaded with BS and some nuggets Im tring to work out the truth of these possibilities..

-Choice of CF card can affect smooth pans etc due to data rate

(it would seem that there is a buffer so this is proably BS)

ps my cards are Skandisk Extreme udma 45mbs 8GB

-Recording the LV

When NOT in record mode the HDMI is 1080

Myth : the quality could be better ?

There is also the AF square problem but this seems no problem for a wider aspect

From the other board:

the basic shoot-out could be easy to perform: take a standard x133 card, a SanDisk Extreme III (non-UDMA), and a UDMA SanDisk Extreme IV and record as close to identical conditions as possible.

The test should definitely involve a big gray object that transitions into shadow as this is normally where the compression artifacting seems to occur.

a lot of people confuse megabits with megabytes. The MKII records at 5 megabytes per second well below the sustained record rate of most newer CF cards.

Check out mthomas' brilliant assessment/theory about buffering and UMDA access on c5d. That's what we're driving at. Not just the sustained transfer speeds.
