My zoom ring is a little bit jerky

Hello guys.

The zoom ring on my dvx100e is jerky. It has been jerky all since the day I bought it, it's not a big deal, it's just that it's impossible to make smooth zooms with it. I recently tried another dvx100e over here, and the zoom ring was soo much better.

It can be jerked like 1 milimeter all the ways, forvard, sideways and backwards. It tends to make a little clicking sound when using it too, because of the jerkyness. Now I bought the camera used, used for 2 years I think. It was jerky when I fist touched it too, but also, the guy I bought it from did not even know exactly where the servo/manual switch was:shocked: Could this be the case? That he zoomed too much with servo zoom on, breaking some parts insde? The zoom works perfectly on everything else, its just the jerkyness and clicking sounds that are a pain in the youknowwhat!

Can this be fixed easily, or do I need an authorized Panny guy to do it for me? Please help, It's really starting to piss me off.

A clicking sound?

Yes; it sounds like its in Servo. Probably already screwed up.

Where is the switch? You can get a manual from the Pani site

Of course I know where the switch is... Found it before he did:/

Does anyone know if it is possible to fix it then? The servo zoom still works great btw.

I think anything is possible to fix, the question is whether or not you want to spend the money to have it repaired.

sound like the prev owner was a dingleberry and was zooming without turning the servo off. The DVX is unique in that its manual zoom is mechanically linked to the lens (a good thing-spaghetti western zooms!). The link is probably trashed.
