My weekend BTS project

First of all, no remarks on the website. I feel like Einstein that I could even figure out how to upload my index page! :D I had some really crappy footage from the short I worked on a while back, and while useless for most purposes, I wanted to put together a little something for the director who is also my friend.

Its one of only two links on my page. Wont be hard to find it. ;D

Thanks for checking it out. This is the first 'thing' I've done in Vegas.

Re: My weekend BTS project

something about movie sets that make me warm and gitty inside
I love the music :) but wondering what are those bars on the side of the image?

Re: My weekend BTS project

??? I dont know...I'm not seeing them. If anyone else does though, please enlighten.

Re: My weekend BTS project

I see the bars too. Windows Media 9 on a Macintosh, if that helps.

Cello Coldplay. Gotta love that. Reminds me of that string quartet Apocolyptica, that did Metallica songs.

And WOW T! This was certainly no small production. Did they shoot that short in HD?

And you said you helped on this? In what capacity aside from behind the scenes? I recall in another post you said you tried to direct and do behind the scenes. Is this the same project?

Re: My weekend BTS project

Well, I sure as hell didnt direct it. I was asked to be 1st AD and to be honest, I dont know what I was. I am used to stage managing productions, and when I do that, I do everything. Only, with film sets, you CANT do everything. I worked with the DP, was eyes and ears for the director, kept time code, script supervised with another person, herded the talent through make-up and wardrobe, spilled beer, oversaw craft services, sent runners for stuff, got consents signed, and made sure the crew got their money at the end of the night. Oh, add grip to the list. That was the most exhausting day of my life! A one day shoot, it was. And I worked for free.

Re: My weekend BTS project

Nice. When can we see the short? And you didn't answer if it was shot on HD or not..

Re: My weekend BTS project

Yes it was shot on HD (a Sony something or other), and the tapes are still not transferred for a preliminary edit yet. I was just talking to the director a second ago and because the studio here that is supposed to be doing the work is basically doing it for free, the project is on the bottom of their to-do list. He is waiting for tapes so he can do a rough edit for their in-house editor. My friend said it was nice to see the BTS stuff because he hasnt seen the real stuff yet.

Re: My weekend BTS project

Quicker pans, more close ups and some interviews of people. ;D

I would love to see the HD footage.

Antomic, the camera they were using was the sony cinealta 950.

;D

Re: My weekend BTS project

Thanks Blue. I will remember that. Quicker pans, close ups, interviews. Got it. QPCUI QPCUI QPCUI

:)

It is unfortunate, but what you see in the video I did was almost every bit of the footage I got that day. Thanks for the comments.

Re: My weekend BTS project

It was kind of cool to see the footage of the people lighted for scene, it gives you a good idea of how it would've looked had this been your production with your camera.
