My used DVX 100 keeps turning itself off...

Hello everybody. I'm knew in here as I just purchased my first pro/semi-pro camera, my DVX100. I'm in a bit of a rush because if this is a problem with the camera (which is used, not new) then I need to get it back to the store before we leave town first thing tomorrow.
Bassiclly, I turn it on and after about 5 or 10 minutes (i'm timing it as I type) it turns itself off. When I say off, the screen goes off and all functions cease. But if I then switch it off at the on/off switch I can hear it close down properly. I'm in japan and haven't had chance to down load the manual (English) so I'm hoping that this is just an aouto off or something, but I'm having those bad feelings that it's something wrong with the camera itself.
Can anyone help a.s.a.p?

Well, I think I just solved my own problem. I was timing it and it was consistently 5 mins so I looked through the manual online and found it in the trouble-shooting pages. It's the Tape Protect function. I just panicked at first because I'm out in Tokyo, I bought the camera in a store here and we leave tomorrow. I had nightmare visions for a moment there....
Though that does still leave me with a question. If I have the tape protect set to turn the power off, how do I get it to come back on without turning the whole thing of at the main switch?

Most cameras do this with a tape in. If there is no tape in, it won't shut off. Never used a dvx, so I can't tell you much more than this
