My two Fantastic Fest bumpers on the GH1

Hey guys,

I'm still a little new to this forum. I've spent most of my time here in the Canon 7D sub-forum, as I've recently bought that camera and am in love with it. But during the fall, I directed two short bumpers for the 2009 Fantastic Fest "Filmmaking Frenzy" contest. One of them ("Ice Cream!!!") ended up becoming the most viewed video on their site of all-time and nearly won the contest. Only we sort of bent one of the rules and went over the 30 sec time limit. Because of this, we got penalized and weren't able to win. The rules of the contest stated that the film had to star a kid, a monster, be 30 secs long, and end off with the word "fantastic".

Shot on the G1, here are my two bumpers. Enjoy!

Amusing little bumpers, although having a kid drop the "F-bomb" just seems.....AWESOME!!!!

Heh.

Seriously, though, Hitgirl calls bad guys "c*nts" and now everybody wants to have children rocking the swearing.

Just seems..."Piss-Christ-y" to me.

Still, fun stuff.

It's an interesting theory, Ian. Except for the fact that we shot both of these bumpers in August 2009, and I didn't see the 'Kick Ass' trailer until about January 2010.

Also, kids cursing on film isn't all that new.

Wow those were 2 great entries! Also you must be a steven king fan? The first film was alot like IT and the second was close too cats eye. I though the cat was going to steal her breath!! I mean that in a good way. Goodluck.

Too true.

On another note, I read your response and then looked at your avatar pic and started laughing....heh.

Just seemed you were giving me the, "geez, what a twat" look. LOL!

sincerely,

ian
