My Student Film From NYFA

Hey everyone, Been following DVX user for roughly 5 years now, since back when i bought my DVX100b. But I always followed the Site as just an observer, Not Really participating in any discussions, merely reading and enjoying all the knowledge and footage on here.

I got away from the site for awhile hence the brand new user name i created, but hoping to get back into the community, this time more hands on,

SO id like to share a piece i shot on 16mm, (I know 16mm!!! does this even get shot on anymore) I shot this in 2004 at the NYFA

I Did the story, Directing, Editing, and the sound design, everything you here was created by me in post, (long hours crumpling paper up against a mic till it look perfect)

However enjoy Let me know what you liked or disliked!

16mm is super hard to shoot on, well done. I dig your sound work too. Solid effort! I think you already know the stuff that needs to be fixed. I have to shoot a non sync film soon and I hope I can make it just as good.

So all the sounds are foleyed by you ? Well if so very well done.

Only the girl with the walking sticks....that I missed a little....(in sound) Although it's also good you don't do every every every every every little step.

Have you done also the "presence" sounds ? Which are actually the sounds that nobody notices untill they're missing . Mostly sound of moving, sound of clothes that move a little when moving.

The sounds are recorded in your room ? I can hear some small reverbs and some "room" in the "paper crumbling" sound. But nothing much you can do about it, and it's very well done (in sync with picture etc)

The cellphone ringing... it has to sound as it is in his pocket, so what you can do is highcut EQ. The sound of the cellphone is also to "close".

Some horns here and there is good.

I like the story also

Good Luck Rdwomack2 I Kinda Like Shooting Non Sync, first gives you a chance to Practice your storytelling through images while on set, If you can capture that the Foley afterwards should merely BOOST the Story Good luck

Thanks Ya they were all done by me, Yeah i did all the presence sounds as well, it was me with a mic rubbing pants, shirts and putting my hand in and out of pockets for a while, So i had lots to work with, Its funny that you recognized the reverb cause it was the paper i did in a room with hardwood floor, hence the re verb im sure

ah you know I never thought of that the cell phone going from ringing in pocket to Out of the pocket nice Pick up all these years never noticed that

Thanks for the input
