FAQ My Speed Boosted Canon lenses vs. native ones on the FS7, A7Rii and GH5

Well - still talking about Push AF only, as continuous AF really sucks and I never even try to use it - it's enough to switch the adapter to the Green mode, and those 2 movements when Push AF is pressed will be replaced by several shorter, more precise ones and the focus is found and locked (a bit lengthy, but precise enough process). Alas, in Green mode the only other useful "aid" - Push AI - is inactive by design; it works (and does it just fine) in Advanced mode only. This is exactly why I kept pushing Metabones to establish whether any of the SB modes would give me both aids I might find useful (PAF AND PAI), and they've kept assuring me Advanced mode is supposed to give me both, or my adapter is faulty. Somehow I'd find it weird if they'd "falsely advertise" their own product even at the risk of rendering it faulty, wouldn't you?

I don't know why they say it works, and commend your trying to hold them accountable . I also would only be interested in push AF which could be quite useful. However as I said before , I just consider it a lost cause. Perhaps you will push them to straighten this out though. By all means Press ON.

I'm resurrecting this old thread to once more ask your precious opinion on the subject, given my Speed Booster woes (and that not just shooting video with FS7, but also with both video and stills on my video B-cam GH5, and my - now mainly used for stills - A7Rii). The reason for bothering you guys is that - even though most of you advised against getting rid of both Speed Boosters and Canon lenses - I've just got an offer from someone who is willing to buy all of them (so no more hassle), and for the price not much lower than I actually paid! This cash would buy me a couple of quite nice, native lens - their only disadvantage being the lousy focus-by-wire experience... Now the decision is even more difficult, so I hope for you giving me some good reasons why I should or should not go for it :)
