SHORT: My Shelter (Drama)

Thanks for sharing. The story felt too linear to me, with little room for any kind of catharsis. I would have liked to have seen something more relatable/likable in the parents, or something to explore in their relationship (or in the son's relationship with the mother). Then maybe the ending would have left me feeling more than "good riddance".

This is also some of the nicest, softest-looking GH5 footage I've seen. Really nice stuff. Would you mind sharing how you processed it?

Hi, thank so much for taking the time out to watch and give feedback. Making a short film is really tough because I've come to believe that you are trying to get a gallon of water into 8oz cup. What I mean is that the elements needed to satisfy a complete experience you need feature-length time. The same reason why I think you need 2-4 minutes to make a complete song and 10 seconds won't do. Time makes a difference so when I make shorts I have to make difficult decisions about what to include so it doesn't become too long.

So everything you say is true. It's just a difficult task to accomplish IMO. Obviously being limited with time doesn't help either. I have yet to watch a short that I felt had all those elements. Most times my response is "meh." It's not a defense, but rather an agreement and explanation.

On the process, I used FCPX to edit and grade it. I just use some grain and LUTs and fine-tune until I get the desired look. I will eventually love to use the ARII Alexa to shoot.

Thanks again for watching.
