My second wedding (24p)

Re: My second wedding (24p)

I checked it. Works fine on my computer. Did it take you to a black screen? It's 40 megs and might take a little wile to load.
Thanks for the feedback.

Re: My second wedding (24p)

Generally it looks great! A couple of things.. In the third shot, it looks sort of weird that you cut from a shot of the park sign to another shot of the park sign and the cut was very noticable and seemed out of place. The "circle dolly" shot during the ceremony looked out of control, it be great if you could have leveled that and had a real "michael bay"-ish circle dolly shot to cut to. Lastly, the zoom out during the kiss was unfortunate, I thought you had multiple cameras right? Why not cut to them? You should also used a few more wide angle establishing shots. The evening dance shot looked good however.

Link did not work for me either... I tried with Opera, Explorer and Safari, and no results.

Re: My second wedding (24p)

Worked for me... That was nice compression as well
What did you use.
Over all I think the couple will like it.... It is priceless to them and I think you did a great job... there were a few shots that I think I would have edited different.
I agree with Boogerge... But I also would have cut out your zooms. I would have shorten the shot but it would have looked better and less distracting.
I know when I started out doing weddings I did the same thing... Of course it is style too... Looks like you are creating one for yourself.

Good Job!

Re: My second wedding (24p)

I am downloading it now, should be able to watch it in a few.

One suggestion for encoding for all of us web viewers; try to make the video window smaller, like 320x240. That will cut down on the file size. Also, you could have encoded it at a smaller bitrate. I see it is at 1472kbps. You could have kept it around 300kbps, again keeping the file size way down and still maintaining respectable quality. Your file is ~44MB. You might have been able to deliver it at about 8MB using WMV.

That will get you more viewers from this and any other online community. 8)

What did you use to encode btw?

Re: My second wedding (24p)

Link worked for me, went black the first time. Some shots seem on the dark side. I have shot two weddings also, but I am just the B camera. Looks like you are doing well for only being your second time. I too am learning editing. Has been a very hard learning curve with P.Pro 1.5. Keep up the great job!

Re: My second wedding (24p)

A big thank you to everyone who replied.

Booggerd, this was a single camera shoot. The dolly shot happened purely by luck. Actually, that shot was just me running around trying to get to another position.
I can't wait to have a multi -cam shoot. (dollies, cranes and jibs oh my) Both weddings were free gifts to the bride and groom for letting me practice. But, I tend to experiment allot when I'm not being paid.

Bryster, squished it with windows media 9.

TuffGong, I tried using QuickTime at lower bitrate, except the audio was horrible. I never tried it lowering it with media 9. I'll have to give it a shot.

Re: My second wedding (24p)

uhmmm, no original sound, that makes it all distant and unpersonal.

And there are a lot of shots, but where are the bride and bridegroom? I see them so little, its like they don't matter. I have one advice for the editing part, stay focust on the subject. After all, its their party.

Re: My second wedding (24p)

Ok, saw it now, Did you mostly CC in post, or use ay cool settings on the camera?

Thanks,
Derrick

Re: My second wedding (24p)

Overall I'd say you are well on your way!  Nice stylized look to your video, but a little too manic here and there.  I'd say your "happy accident" relocation quasi-dolly shots need to be dropped from the production. (or maybe slow mo)  They are a little too Blair Witch for a wedding. I didn't see any microphones anywhere, did you capture any live sound at the event other than on camera?  Your video launched in full screen mode, which was kind of cool and looked great on my screen.  (no problem with the file size either).  Were you in 24p during the blue dance?  Did you have any lighting other than available room light?  You really need a b-roll camera on a tripod so that you are covered any time you to need to zoom or move.  (but you know that).
