Hello Everyone. I just wanted to drop a line and show everyone my second film that I've shot with my AF100.

I've titled it: The Salton Sea - The Riviera of the Imperial Valley.

Lovely footage, and rather post-apocalyptic; with a grade it would look like something out of Book of Eli, or The Road.

Some really great shots in there. The one with the train in the distance was pretty cool. Nice use of dolly shots too, cut in nicely with the other shots. The only thing I did notice was a couple of the shots (1 or 2) overall seemed soft

Great job, seems like a cool place to film

Way to make the camera sing Jon. Well done good man. Some amazing scenery there, though I could feel myself rusting as I watched.

Great shots, light, and location. Beautiful. Nice smooth dolly shots. I'm interested in what you used also.

The shot with the shopping cart sunk more than halfway in the ground was just ... disturbing. Really interesting place.

Thanks for sharing. The imagery is just amazing along with DOF control for under $5,000. No need to shoot or discuss any charts form now on imho...

I went to see True Grit the other day in a Cinemark theater and the projection was not spectacular. The overal look was a bit soft and the screen actually lost focus towars the bottom! So all of the that money, effort, lenses etc... only to be shown in a less than ideal environment.

My point is the tools are here to take the equipment out of the equation.

Wow, I really really liked this clip. Thanks for sharing! The only thing I'd probably try to tame is the yellow blowout in the sun, but other than that, everything else was VERY clean and looked great. What settings did you shoot at?

The footage was fantastic. Am I the only one hearing some weird mono/stereo glitches throughout? It was especially noticeable in a couple of quick transitions, and I wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't have isolating headphones on. Even so, the mood was spot on for the visuals. - Tim

100% Honest, that footage shot by Bloom with the t2i looks a lot better.... Image quality alone I just don't see the price of admission for the Af100.

I respectfully disagree. I found the images and content on this piece to be better, not taking away anything from the other piece, it was good as well, just not as good, imo.

I agree that I prefer some of Philips dolly and composition, but this footage can undoubtably look the same if graded equally. I honestly believe that all the DSLRs, and the AF100 are on a very even playing field. It's all about the users skill level to get the best out of their gear. There is plenty of horrid looking 5D, 7D stuff out there too.

I thought they were both great, although I liked a lot of the shots in this one better because they weren't so crazy shallow DoF zoomed in way too far for my taste. Artistic, yes, but I was more intrigued by the shots on this one.

Also, if you go in and look at the t2i footage, have a look under the bottle at the wood grain at 2:55 (around that area) on Philip's footage. There is a LOT of colored moire in the wood.

Loved this footage - very nice work. Had an opportunity to go to the Salton Sea a couple of years ago and passed on it. Am now kicking myself. However, doubt that I'd have come away with anything as nice as this. Of course, didn't have an AF100 back then either. :) But, seriously, beautifully done.
