My New LOGO Please Tell me what you think...

awsome?.. What awesome about it?
No, seriously, does anybody else think that was awesome?...
Shouldn't logo be as simplified as possible?..
Shouldn't the logo creator avoid throwing in effects and transition just for fun having them in?..
I am confused than...
But wait!... NOW I'm getting it!.. What IF thumbsdown production did this bizarre thing on purpose?.. Than, of course, it IS perfect in reflecting the company style!..

Can't say I get it. Lots more "Huh?" than "wow," but given the name of your company, that may be just the ticket you're looking for.

to me, a splashscreen should be total eye candy. it should be 100% wow. this is not wow. the gradient circle effect looks cheap, like it was done in powerpoint or something. the thumbs down logo is poorly masked. the explosion looks fake and doesn't fit. it just looks low budget. if you can't pull off really nice effects and c.g., then go really simple and elegant. less is more. i hate to bash but this forum keeps it real. i have had my work beaten to death and came out stronger because of it.

I agree with cheezwezl. The animated logo felt a bit, thrown together, in the sense that all of the elements felt unconnected somehow.

Chris

it was a good looking logo.
I think the TNT was a little over the top.
but if that's what your going for.

the one thing i feel i should say is.
your logo says thumbs down productions.
that implies that you are a company, making money.
but your not a company.
Just make stuff under your name.
if its more of a collective, name it Thumbs Down Film Collective or Thumbs Down Cinema.

this may sound mean but naming your group a production says to industry people that you don't know anything. People with money see that stuff and think, "oh another kid out of film school who thinks hes going to change the world with his ego."

I have to agree with many of the opinions thus far. I never thought I could be thoroughly confused about the intentions of a logo, since the premise of a logo is to clearly represent your company, be easily recognized, and remembered. But alas, I'm confused as hell by yours. Whats the point of the stuff in the beginning and why the dynamite at the end? Keep it simple man and stick to the animation of the thumb turning down and fade out.

Thank you everyone

Thank you everyone

First off let me say i appreciate what everyone had to say. Yes its a little over the top, and yes most of the time They are meant to be eye candy. But that exactly why i made this, i didnt want some super flashy thing that made everyone go wow. I wanted to make smething that represented myself and my company. Thats why the effects are a little depressing in terms of amazement or believeablity. But i could see how its not in everyones taste. But im glad we can voice it.

As for the name of my company, well thank you for the advice it is the name of my company. Company implying yes i own a business license under that name and try my best to make money lol. Nor did i go to film school but hey simple mistake.

It seems you're going for a lo-fi ironic logo. I think it needs more tweaking - one isn't sure if it's supposed to look really lo-fi or if it just fell short of intended higher production values. I think stop-motion animation using construction paper or other "lo-fi" materials would work well with your concept. Just a thought...

i have no room to talk because i think mine is cheap...so no negs from me...i just want to know what's it for? obviously your business, but like features, TV, indie, public access channels?????
