Hi Guys

Thought you may like to see my latest GH1 short "The Ranch." I shot it using the kit lens and Canon FD primes (24 1.4L and 85 1.2L)

what?!? did you really mount your gh-1 to one of those things??? man those shots were sweet!!

Nice job, however, I feel like you've run into some pulldown, mixed framerate, and/or export issues on some of these shots? Is that the case? What were your settings throughout shoot/edit?

Yeah, 2 of the in air shots were the gh1.

I didn't do any pulldown removal, just dropped all the footage on a 24p timeline in Premiere. Most of the footage was 24p. The rest was 720 60p.

Wow, those aerial shots are awesome!

But this video brings up something I've been wondering about for a while. When you pan and tilt in the video, the video stutters. It's a very constant tick tick tick tick sort of stutter where the video seems to pause for a moment. I've searched around about this a bit and others have noticed it with the GH1 but others tend to tell them, "Oh, it's Vimeo. Or your computer or internet is too slow." Well, I've seen plenty on Vimeo of other cameras where it's either less apparent or nonexistent and I've uploaded XHA1 videos myself and they look fine. So it's not Vimeo. I'm on a quad core Windows 7 PC with 4GB ram and a 8800GT video card with latest hardware-accelerated flash version installed and I can play bluray and 1080P mkvs just fine so it's not my computer. I have FiOS internet and can download at 2MB/sec so that's not the issue. I even downloaded your video from Vimeo and played it and the stutter was there, still.

Does anyone see what I'm talking about? It's more apparent on tilts and pans.

David, can you see what I mean about the video? Does it stutter like that prior to you exporting it?

I don't mean to pick on you or your video, it's just that your clip seems to exhibit the "stuttering" and you seem to know what you're doing, so I doubt it's operator error and you allowed downloading your clip so I could test it.

Yeah I know what your talking about butler, but I think it is vimeo, or they way I encoded the video and the way vimeo re-encoded it. It plays back smooth for me NOT on vimeo. Did you try downloading the source file?

Yeah, I did. Stuttering was still there. That's one reason I brought this up in your thread because you allowed downloading so I could test that.

And I'm pretty sure I've seen it on YouTube, too, with GH1 videos.
