My insight on the hvxPAL

hey everybody,

just got my hvx a few days ago.. i still cant believe i have it, anyway here is my insight of it so far.

1st of all, i didnt get any p2 cards so i will tell you my impressions of the cam using the miniDV tapes... i think the quality of this cam even using minidv tapes is amazing, i found it particulary sharp and nice in the 576p mode 16:9. I also like all the different tweaking availability, which gives u the ability to get the look u want. I cant wait to get my hands on some p2 cards.. i can only imagine the quality will be awesome.

Concerning 25p..

Personally 25 works great for me as a "film look", i really dont think there is much difference from 24p, and if there is, im fine with it, it looks "filmic" enough to me.

i know ive only scratched the surface with this camera, and i will be writing further reviews and thoughts on the pal version once i get out in the field with it. (hopefully tomorrow).. but in a nutshell.. i love this cam, its got loads and loads of potential in the right hands.. $hit.. i cant wait to get some p2 cards! ha!rogar-Evil(DBG):

congratulations on your HVX,
i fellt the same when i got mine at the beginning of april.

And welcome on the pal-boat, i am curious how you will edit/postpro with dvcpro 50/HD.

I can tell you that p2 will bring a lot of fun(i tried 2frames "hack", nicefootage, maybe ill post some..) and i tell you that you will LOVE dvcpro50!!

Its great quality, the 4:4:2 coulour room is great, i never want to go back to normal dv....!
