Hi there, I'm relatively new to this place (haven't posted too much since I joined) and I figrued a good introduction would be to just post some of my videowork up here for all of you to view and judge.
This little flick, which I call "The Attack of the Spy", was actually made for a school history project in which we had to create our own peice of World War One American propaganda. Most students chose to do a poster or something, but I decided to make a short "propaganda film" instead, just for fun.
To setup some background: during World War One, they changed the name of "Sauerkraut" to "Liberty Cabbage", because it was German (kinda like "freedom fries" huh?). That's what I made this video about. I shot and edited pretty much all of it in one day. Basically, it's just me fooling around in front of the camera:
www.vgstudio.com/anime/spyattack.mov
The file's 12 MB in size, and is in quicktime movie format.
(I'm just using the webspace of this old anime fansite I made a while ago.... don't ask....)
Anyway, now for the technical stuff: some of the footage is simply a composite of still images, but the rest was shot with the good ol' DVX100 on 24p advanced. However, as you'll see, I used a filter on it to make it look like "old" film from World War One. For this, I kinda cheated: iMovie has a standard plug-in that does this effect, so I exported the edited color version from Final Cut Pro as a quicktime movie, imported it into iMovie, ran the effect, exported it out, then put it back into Final Cut Pro. Crude, but effective. And this way I don't have to go buy some expensive Final Cut Pro filter.
The "pan and scan" effect on the still images was also accomplished in this fashion, with cheap iMovie effects.
Everything else, like the titles and transitions, was all done in Final Cut Pro.
So..... tell me what you think!
