My hacked gh2 nightmare

I am having an issue, and I dont know where to turn.

I hacked my gh2 using the flow motion patch to record to my sandisk ultra 64gb sdxc card. I shot footage but when I try to connected to either mac or pc it says its not readable but there is footage on the sandisk!

have I lost my footage? Why is windows and mac asking me to format the disk? Is it because of my hack?

I'd try another SD card reader. I have a USB thumb drive that I can put the SD card into and it works most of the time, but there always seems to be one file it won't let me copy and gives and error. If I put the same SD card in my laptop I can copy everything just fine.

I'd bet its just your SD card reader.

There are various possible problems, some more severe than others. Question: when the card is in the camera, is it still recognized and still able to be recorded to? If yes, are your already-recorded files still present?

yes, i am able to record to it and play back the files.

its a 64 gb sandisk ultra 30 mbs .

I am using mac os x 10.5.7 at first, and they said apple wont open sdxc on OLDER OS.

so I upgraded to 10.7.2 but the nightmare continues!!

The problem then is not with the hacked firmware, it's in reading the SD card's files with your computer. The SD card is formatted much like a portable USB drive. When you insert it into the computer or SD card reader, it should be recognized as an external disk drive. In Windows or the Mac Finder, you should be able to open the SD card and examine its folder structure. If not, there is likely a problem with the SD card slot, or its driver software.

I had the same problem, it is your card reader. Old or cheap card readers won't work. A newer or quality one will give you no problems.

As others have pointed out, the higher-capacity SD cards (SDHC etc.) cannot be read by older card readers - or by some of the newer ones! Make sure the reader you get is compatible with the card.

Did you try connecting the camera to the computer via USB and using the camera as a reader?

the problem is apple, I needed to upgrade, then upgrade again, just so my mac can even read the files, no card reader will work UNLESS your mac is lion and above. This is one of the main reasons I'm dumping final cut pro. final cut pro x doesn't even open tcp 6 files, hours and hours of work can be lost. and they never update a fix for the older OS, no way, you need to go to the newest OS, but sometimes new OS break things, like plugins and such... don't even get me started on the VST to AU nightmare logic users had to go through when apple bought logic and butchered the program

Glad you were able to figure it out. All of my workstations are Win7 so I never had any problems with 64gb sdxc cards... until one day when I had to load something on a Vista laptop. Had me worried until I was able to pop the card in my workstation!

Has nothing to do with the OS (especially nothing in the difference between Vista and 7). It has all to do with the hardware in the card readers reading the new SD cards that are larger than 32GB.

Gotcha. Makes sense. The cheap Dell they had on site wasn't worth anything. Not surprised a subpar card reader was the problem. That situation was the only time we ran into that issue so we didn't have a chance to try an external card reader. I always pack one in my travel bag!

Yeah, I've had one of those that didn't work, so I make sure all my card readers explicitly mention SDXC in the specs.
