My Godson

Here are a few pictures I took of my godson on a visit yesterday. First 2 are using an SB600 that was off camera, sitting on the mantle, pointed up and to the left to bounce off the ceiling. The flash was triggered with GI triggers. This was my first time playing with off camera flash, and this makes me want to do it more. There were some pretty heavy shadows, but without an umbrella & stand I was limited on locations to place the thing. All the rest are natural light. All pictures link back to Flickr if you want more info. Let me know what you think. Thanks

In this picture they are checking out a piece of hail from the storms that came threw Georgia on Saturday.

Great pics dan! I just spent some time photographing my nephew (18 mos or so) last night and had a blash just following him around.

How do you like the GI trigger? I've been looking at some sort of wireless stuff myself and its got my attention... not really wanting to shell out for pocket wizards or similar. I can deal with a few misfires or random flash pops.

Thanks jdajda!

I actually got them for my Novatron Studio strobe set, but my godson's father has an SB600 that I wanted to play with. I've yet to have a misfire in my week of testing. Only issue I had yesterday was the flash kept going into standby mode if I didn't shoot for a few mins, and I would have to hit the test fire to make it come back to life before I could shoot. I'm sure there is a way to correct that but it wasn't my flash so I didn't fool with it. I got a fantastic deal on the triggers too, as a buddy of mine who does wedding stuff upgraded to AirPort triggers and sold me 3 - v2 triggers and a transmitter for $30.

yeah thats a heck of a deal. Hmm yeah i dont know the sb600 at all, but I bet there's a fix for that somewhere. Sounds like I may have to pick up a set of these triggers. I'm optically slaving a couple Sunpak 383's (saw they have a new unit for the 383 and a few other flashes that use a low trigger voltage) right now from the on board flash (set to 1/16th so as to not interfere with the image) and its just getting to be a pain to arrange everything so the slaves can see the flash. Anyways thanks for the info. Looking forward to this. Thanks.

I love the lighting in the first one and that last one really has character. I wish you could have had a focused light on those eyes in the second one though, it could have made a big difference. Nice shots man!
