GH3 my GH3 1080p24 mov files play back in Quicktime 7 at only 14fps

I just received my GH3 today. But I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this:

I just shot two clips at the highest movie setting with my Sandisk Extreme Pro Class 10 card.

After downloading the clips to my mac pro desktop, even though they were shot at 1080p24 they only play back at 14fps in Quicktime Pro 7. I'm not playing them back from the card but from the desktop.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

OK, just imported the clips into Premiere Pro CS6 and they play back perfectly.

Not sure why the playback drops to 14fps in Quicktime Pro 7.
Can Quicktime 7 not handle 50Mbps smoothly? Could that be the issue?

Interestingly enough the files play back smoothly at 24fps in Quicktime X.

I looked at the Get Info of Quicktime 7 and it says it's a 32 bit application, where as QT X and Premiere are 64 bit. That could hurt your playback performance...

QuickTime itself is 32 bit, so any MOV file will suffer from that, regardless of the program used to play it.

That's one reason I wish Panny had gone with MXF OP1a instead of QuickTime for the All-I files.

That doesn't make any sense to me. What was the file size and how much memory was QT7 using?

I am guessing it is more of a quirk between how Panasonic encodes the file, and what QT is expecting when it reads the file. Also, was QT using hardware playback, or using the CPUs?
