GH2 My GH2 is dead. Won't power up

Hi folks,

my hopes are low, but is there anybody here who had the issue with his GH2 that it won't power up? I used it normally, with a full battery. Then I turned it off, and wanted to power it on again after 5 minutes and it is dead. No reaction when I put the lever to "on".

I reloaded the battery, but nothing. It is just dead.

Any suggestions? Anybody here who had a similar problem? It's still in the warranty period, but I'm not shure what panny says if they discover the hack on it.

When I went to Photo Plus in NYC last October I happened to mention the GH2 hack to another person in the Panasonic counter where this gentleman was attending to the inquiries about the cam and he got furious. He said that he was in the engineering team for the GH2 and that the camera was designed specifically for 24mbits. He mentioned that somebody walked up to him and told him that his GH2 was not working and he asked him if the cam was hacked and the person said it was. He said that they were starting to see more cameras with the hack coming in for repair. He said that the engine et all was not meant for anything higher that what was intended for. He also said that if the camera would safely perform with higher mbits they would offer it themselves. He said that the camera with a hack will eventually burn out! I am not saying that is what happened to yours but that was his comment about it. And he works for the company.

Did you try another battery? It's quite possible your battery died. I personally don't leave a firmware on my SD card that I normally have in the camera, due to the ease at which an accidental flashing might occur and a interruption during the flashing.

John, was the engineer Japanese? He would have to be if he was on the engineering team. sounds like complete BS to me

Could be, but I'm using the moderate 44Mbits hack, hence not that dramatic. Anyways.

That could be possible, that it is the battery. I was thinking of that also. On the other hand, I put it into the ccharger last night and it seemed to charge normally.Regarding the firmware, it's not on the SD card of course, but on the camera. I don't know if panny has a way of detecting the hack (should also be V1.0).

well this guys is a moron because panny has said they SUPPORT the hacking, and dec. firmware will have higher bitrates RIGHT FROM PANNY...

No, he was american.

That is about as much as I will hack it when I get mine in the near future. I hacked my GH1 to the lowest end also and haven't had any trouble and at the same time it got rid of the mud. Good luck with your camera.
