my FYI entry

totaly wasent expecting a comedy :)

you picked a really good time to film - everything looks incredible

and assuming from your last post you might want some input :) its what i think, so take it or leave it - makes no difference to me

plot wise - you might think about a way to ramp into the issue faster. the suprise at the end, is funny - but by removing some of the footage from the beginning, and extending the ending scene (perhaps adding a few shots of them carressing the broken plant or whatnot) might make for more motivated camera work

sound wise - :-\ your guy sounds like it was sped up, and the lack of tone is kinda wierd. if you want to dub in the audio, you will need to get a little further from the mic, and play with the eq a bit to match what we expect from outside. your effects might take some looking after - but other than sounding off (the running) im not in a position to say much

going back to plot - im not sure what its called, but its hard for me to draw a diagram of the overal scene, where the cars are, and where he falls and all that. adding just a few differnt angles, including the gray car, the girl running up and that sort of thing will help cohearance.

are you doing any more soon?

Not a big fan of the handheld thing, but.... I totally loved the idea. Too many freaks out there. Hey I love my trees and everything else nature as much as the next, but you have to prioritize. Who needs tree huggers anyways........... Well they do come in handy to sharpen moving target skills for deer season.....

:kali:

Oh come on, I jest...

I really, really liked the piece. My gut reaction was that it wasn't the handheld but the high shutterspeed that was a bit over done. I agree, too, that it could probably be tightened a bit (get us to the ending quicker).

Finally, even if this piece is a comedy (of which I wasn't so sure), the tone needs to be set a bit stronger. When the guy falls over, for example, it looks like he has a grin on his face. And there is this sense of melodrama with his acting. In other words, I would have liked to see him pull off the collapse in all seriousness, instead of with a smirk. Then the message (whether it be comedy or serious) would come through stronger.

i agree that i could have done alot of things better, but as usual i procrastinated and didn't end up filming until the week of the deadline for the festival. i wanted to add some dialogue and switch out some shots to make things a little clearer and more concise. as for the handheld i knew i wasn't going to have much time to shoot the whole thing because my volunteer actors (friends and family) couldn't give me much time so i knew going with a tripod would slow things down (plus i've been watching too much 24 lately) and i decided to experiment with a high shutter speed to give the scene a more chaotic feel. but anyways i appreciate everyone's feedback
