I understood where you were going with the dressing room, but it felt like aesthetically it was competing (colour vs. white, lighting was an overall soft source, but missed the mark) colours oversaturated
The switch to the piano scene seemed random and with your harder sources you didn't flag the shadows off the wall. Unmotivated shadows can be tough to control on a small shoot, but if it distracts the viewer...
What I thought was well tackled:
The shots with the candles, nice and atmospheric
Book ending the white dressing room and then candle shot - very fashion oriented (you see that a lot in fashion mags), but it was still a good idea
Nice simulated ring light in the CU
Suggestions :
Try to add a bit more art direction/production design, example lamps from a thrift store, interesting paintings in the background (with some research you can add them without too much $).
Talk to the artist about what hair colour best suits her on screen with her skin tone, and that still matches her vibe personal taste etc. Do some prelim tests, show her the results
Things like Briese lights can be simulated with some homemade jerryrigging which would give you a great soft source, offset the colours on set to add complimentary contrast (for this vid), try to shoot on an angle to get more 3 dimesionality, depth, flag shadows off walls or bounce light from the floor
Maybe try to reflect the theme of the song within the video.
Overall:
Some good stuff, some to work on (imho). Those are just first general impressions. Hope to see more videos from you.
really great steady shots! I guess I would just like to see more color, not too much just a light cast or grade. Like a little pinkish or redish becasue the song is about a valentine. or maybe yellowish (warm) because the song had a warm feel to it? Any way you want to interpret it, I really believe color can bring out emotions and convey them to the viewer. everything else is great! great video!
