My friend and I have no idea what were doing with our PC

My friend just reformated his computer and reinstalled windows and now he has no sound at all. We cant find the driver to the stinkin motherboard because its a custom built computer that he got from a friend. I think it has something to do with roland, but that didnt work too. went to microsoft.com and had no luck there either.
So i come to dvxuser.com for help.

Open it up and check out the motherboard. Should be able to tell what model the mobo is just by looking at it. Then check out the mobo manufacturer website for drivers.

for example if it is an asus motherboard, and you are using onboard sound...

there is a picture there of where you look on the motherboard ... google the model number, download the drivers (sound) maybe bios if needed.

If it is a sound card you are running, you must download drivers for it instead

Ok i opened up the thing and i cant really find the name of board.
All i saw is "sis 961".
So i googled it and came off with a few sites and came up with nothing.
I was told the board might be an msi board, so i looked up both msi and sis and only came up with audio drivers for sis 76something.
So i still need help :/

Try checking this site. You will have to go into the bios to get the number but without taking it to a tech this might be your best bet.

Have you tried contacting the friend who assembled the pc? Might be as simple as a couple of emails to hunt down the informaiton.
