Hi there my name is Dan (I'm usually in the GH1 section).
I've created an easy-to-use batch renaming tool to add any prefix to all files within any folder (and any sub-folders).
This is useful if the files off your SD card are not named anything distinct, e.g. when some DSLR's format your SD card the file numbering starts over (resulting in duplicate file names on your hard drive, like 00000.MTS).

Rename Prefix.workflow for MAC OS X (just right click on any folder)
I've created an Automator workflow file which should go in the path:
username/library/workflows/applications/finder
Once its there, you should be able to right click on any folder and a pop up will appear asking what pre-fix you want to add to all file names within that folder and all sub-folders. Enjoy and let me know how it works.
