My first video with the 3DR Solo Drone

I've not posted in the aerial group for a long while, the 3DR Solo although making it out without too much delay has been held up as a complete package as the gimbal didn't ship with it, many people are still waiting.

This was done just yesterday evening, it was less than an hours effort filming, it's really easy using the cablecam, I didn't see a need for orbit in this, and I did a few shots manually too.

At this point all the software isn't out for the GoPro API (that will be out partially this month, then November), you can simply stop and start recording, so you need to set your GoPro up as needed before taking off for now.

Seems very smooth! Pan and tilts plus start and stop were really clean.

I really liked the shot of the path, directly looking down at it, with the greenery on both sides.

Great stuff. Beautiful location and good camera moves.

Look forward to getting some fun stuff from my Solo soon.

Didn't watch the whole thing, but looks really smooth. I have a client that hires drone guys and I get the footage - really trying to get them to think more "big movie set helicopter" and "giant-ass crane" vs all kinds of pans and stuff. Drones can do some cool, cool stuff - but once you get away from the cinematic shots we're used to, it starts to scream "drone!!!" And a beautiful shot with a sudden camera move jerk? I'd just scream sometimes. But overall they delivered.

I gotta say though - those hazy sky shots? I had a blast camera tracking the footage and adding dramatic skies and a lens flare or two when appropriate. I have a huge library of skies and man, they just tucked right in. Super-cinema mojo.
