GH2 My first short with the GH2!

So last weekend I shot my first short film with the GH2 for a 24 hour film festival. I'm pretty pleased with how the over all product turned out but with the lack of time there are a few things I'm not too happy with. Some shots are a bit out of focus when 2 hdmi cables for my external monitor broke leaving me with the small viewfinder to try and gauge focus. Live and learn I guess. I'm also not too thrilled with the very first scene of the guy in the bedroom. I used the "standard" profile at -2's instead of "smooth" which I thought was the one everyone here was going with. Also, I used the Quantum 9B hack for this shoot.

Obviously watch it on YouTube for the better quality version.

Good, powerful short film. Forgot about the GH2 and that I was watching it on a camera forum by the end. Great work.

***SPOILER ALERT for those who haven't watched the film*******

The one thing that broke my involvement in the story was the VFX on the gravestone. An important plot point undermined by a less-than-convincing effect. That said, awesome job in 24 hours!

Nice concept though i somehow worked out what was going on half way through.
Extra props for some of your framing.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

Hahah yeah the vfx for the gravestone was regrettably one of the last things we did in the editing and had to be rushed. I've learned to love it's awful-ness though.

yeah. Great job on the framing. Some of the shots were too yellow for my taste, but, yeah, the stone shot was rough. I think without the image overlayed the point would have still been made, but great job none the less. Just a couple very small nitpicky things in a great project.

nice effort overall. i enjoyed it!

but generally speaking (not a rule, but an easy go-to) narrative efforts will be made more emotionally connective with even slight nat sound (even if its foley'd)

water running, covers rustling, ambient street noise, etc...

unless it's your intent to perceptively isolate the viewer from the action.

nice idea.
liked the music.
agree about narrative that should be more 'audio connected'. otherwise it's a video for the music.
the first 75% of the film are too long for my taste- i got the idea pretty fast, so i knew that there will be a twist. (preparations and walking could be edited more tightly).

good luck.
