Dear DVX users,
This is my first short done with my wonderful new camera that I am quite in love with. I am merely an amateur. Before you ask me what it is all about I would just like to say that it really has no point but for me to test out my new camera and the images I could produce with it. The following is without CC, but I've got one with it, which I will post a bit later ( I kinda like that one more.) BEWARE: This is really artsy and you may dislike me because of that. Besides the aforementioned, please enjoy! :)

Thanks, guys!

Hey guys,
I see that some people have been watchin the short or atleast looking at the thread, if someone could give me some feedback that would be rad. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks,
I tried to do it on purpose, as a stylistic move, but didn't always get the look I was going for. I wanted some very still shots for some and some crazy shaking on others. It was probably the Soundtrack from Mulholland drive running through me. David Lynch has this affect on me.

pretty good. a bit over exposed at times. well edited though. did you have your
ois turned on? I love David Lynch's stuff by the way.

I did for some of the walking shots, but as I recall most of the time it was off.
David Lynch wows me. I'm glad to hear of other fans on here. I've been editing DV for quite sometime, I had made several skate videos and shorts with my old vx1000 and had always been an aspiring filmmaker. I love my DVX, and I just feel so free with it! Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for that - That has a very 60's feel and sound to it, very early Pink Floyd video like. Nice work, keep shooting!

I thought this looked great. I liked the overexposed highlights. It's an artistic choice. There's a right way and a wrong way of doing it and I think you did it the right way.

Very strong usage of shallow DOF on this lens. What did you do to achieve it?

I had the same question. But after a second look, it appears kept the shots tight and zoomed in enough that you could acheive the shallow depth of field. I can't see where there was 35mm adapter of anykind. But very nice that it wasn't needed. With a little work, you can pull it off. Nice CC.... Magic Bullet if used it certain ways can come off very nice.

I mean this constructively, as a viewer and as someone who's trying to help, so please don't take it badly . . . it's your first and all.

One of the keys to effective editing is brevity.

Cut it in half; even though there wasn't much of it, the overall impression is that there was a lot of repetition. It tended toward the tedious.

This was a fun montage; a littel long for the subject matter but overall a nice innocent job. The grading is very nice and the score is a nice touch;

I wasn't feeling the constant 'geriatric' approach with the camera though; less is more; only in moderation, etc etc etc. The shake was too much and too long and ruined some otherwise interesting subject mmater. This doesn't help matters when nothing is ever in focus sans the focus sweeps.

David has a nice suggestion; maybe it would be easier if it wasn;t so long

Lynch, huh? I've always been torn on Lynch (leaning towards falling asleep with his stuff). The vibes he sets are alwys good but his films in the end are usually lessons in nowhere. I find his work pretentious and boring.

It's sad cause I always find myself wanting' to like his work but always leave feeling like I was trying to hard.

Well thanks everyone. I really appreciate the constructive criticism and I'm glad many of you liked it and those you had issues with it were willing to express it in a nice way. The shallow depth of field question...I guess I just messed with having the iris open as far as I could and trying to balance that with an ND filter and zooming to the maximum most of the time. Thanks again guys!
