My First Shoot Ever

As many of you saw over in the "Cinematography" thread, I dove into a shoot by volunteer means (best friend's wedding). I shot in 24p and am doing post-production now. I'm a n00b to all of this, although post is where I'm familiar (grading, VFX, etc...usually edited before it gets to me). On top of that, I'm trying the Adobe work flow for the first time (CS3 Premiere --> After Effects) instead of FCP --> AE 6.5.

Anyhoo...i have 2 stills that I'd like to share. The first is a grab of the ceremony...the officiant was hilarious, kept making EVERYONE laugh, including the bride & groom...this grab i feel was a good capture of the personality of the ceremony. I graded this, but dunno if I like it yet...i'm still playing around with what I want each clip to look like. I wish I could afford the new Magic Bullet Looks suite...but after the $2500 for CS3 Master Suite, i'm pretty much scrapped.

The second is a little noisy, but I know i can fix it in post. I haven't touched this one yet, save for "File --> export --> frame" (or whatever it is).

Thanks for the input....and try & be gentle...i've never done this stuff before. :-BlackEye(DBG

The PC I was working on for the edits took a dump on me...so I'm going to have to re-edit EVERYTHING from scratch. I am doing a montage set to music (just something "fun" for me to do) that I'll have up later today hopefully.

Lesson learned; always, always back up the edit.

I should add, I'm sure your friends will love the footage.

hehe....there were TONS of lessons learned. as for the edit...i was trying premiere CS3 on the only PC in the house. I had the footage backed up in 3 different locations + original miniDV tape. So I moved off to FCP5 (at least I have that software in multiple locations, same for the project file).

So far they've liked it, even the parents. Now I know I'm shaky holding a camera...but it's the first time ever shooting...so here ya go. (follow the links...it's the only thing in there, i'll update the link after I can figure out how to compress it and it not look like poo). Also, this flash encoding made it look "jerkier" than I was...i did a side-by-side stare & compare....and while I did have some jerky movements, not nearly as much as the lagging seems on the flash version (could be my PC @ wk sux too).
