Re: My first screen grabs!

nice, but I noticed that some of the shots are a little out of focus

Re: My first screen grabs!

i noticed that too. make sure to focus on the eyes. the last cat grabs look like the edge of the cat is in focus which contrasts it against the background , but the eyes are out of focus.. but then again i have cats.. and they like to move....

anyway i like the grabs :)

Re: My first screen grabs!

Yes, he does like to move...........alot. Tried to focus as fast as possible before he ran off. I am just really impressed with the quality of the DVX.

Being able to create shallow depth of field, even if it is minor is just sweet.

Re: My first screen grabs!

Those first few shots are always pretty satisfying. Enjoy.

BTW, have you noticed a clicking sound?

Re: My first screen grabs!

A clicking sound when you move it back and forth (after the camera is turned off). A lot of the newer cameras have this and it's the first sign of a serious defect with the lens.

Also, if you're not using EVF for focusing, it's great! One of my favorite features added to the dvx100a. Also, cats are hard to focus on, I agree.

Btw, those are some of the best "first grabs" I've seen. Well exposed, good composition, etc. Enjoy the camera, it just gets better and better as you use it and learn more and more about it.

Re: My first screen grabs!

ouch! sorry buddy, that clicking sound ISN'T good. your cam will probably die in a few days. i suggest demolishing it with a sledgehammer. or send it to me.

Re: My first screen grabs!

VERY nice grabs - I've yet to post my first grabs, so you're ahead of me. What settings did you use?

by the way, I have to agree with the rest of the board. I noticed that bloody clicking sound a few days after I bought the cam, so I took it to the store - they said that sound wasn't covered under warranty - so I took matters into my own hands and threw the cam out the window. Biggest waste of money ever.

Re: My first screen grabs!

the camera sucks anyway. you shouldve left it in the street for it to contemplate its own pathetic existence and take matters into it's own hands.

me, i got a dvx100 (not a) and does not have this problem. it rocks.

ditto on the guitar shot. All of them look very nice though.

LMAO! ;D ;D ;D Great thread

LOL HorseFilms, just noticed your avatar quote "I'm from Minnesota. That means I drink a lot." I have a friend from Minni, he'll love that  ;D

Re: My first screen grabs!

I just used F5. Since the 24p has significant motion blur that is probably why the stills of the cat aren't in perfect focus. Also my cat is a crappy model. Little bastich.

Obviously the "click" thing is an inside joke that I do not understand at this time. Maybe when I become cool enough I will suddenly figure it out.

The camera does make some kind of click. Anyone know what it is? Seriously folks.
