My first screen grabs, roses check it out!

These are my first screen grabs with the new DVX100A i just got.
Its a PAL camera, and these were taken with the 25p mode thick (F5), I don't know what difference thin (F6) would have made. I made it widescreen by adding a picture of blackness to the top and bottom as separate layers.
I think its cool how you can blur the background with this camera, , that’s all I have tried so far.....
Here they are tell me what you think, suggestions of improvement would be greatly appreciated!, abuse will be frowned upon :P:

The last one is very nice... my advice is simply if you want to shoot for Widescreen, don't worry about putting the black bars in "to the top and bottom as separate layers." in post, just use the letterbox mode in-camera, saves lots of hassle for me!

Well done, good first grabs :)

PAL rocks!!

With F6 mode you get thinner lines, so you can say higher resolution.

Did you white balance the camera? Don't get me wrong, they look great, but it looks like you were set at 3200K and your light source was the sun. They have a cool blue cast to them.

No white balance, still learning about that. im lost when you say 3200K, yeah light from the sun, on an overcast day. When the weather clears up im going down to the beach to film the sunrise, i will post some of them as well, Is there any danger pointing the camera into the sun?

I guess 3200K white blance would look good in a film with a "sad tone" what white balance would i have used and how do i change it so it would give a "happy tone" is it just A and B on the side of the camera?

I can change the colours in post, but sometimes at a loss in its quality, plus i am trying to save time by filming so i dont have to colour correct it etc etc

White balance is a fun thing to experiment with. First off, with the switch set to the bottom setting marked "PRST", you can choose between 3200K (used with normal video lights) or 5600K (sunlight). You choose which one you want by pressing the AWB button just below the lens on the front of the camera. To get a more exact white balance, you set the switch to either A or B (it doesn't matter which) and point the camera at a white card which has your light source hitting it. This can be a professional white card or a piece of paper will do. Zoom in on that until white fills the frame. Hit the AWB button. When it says OK, you should be good to go.

You can also try white balancing off of different colored surfaces to get different looks.
