My first reel

I dont know if i would go as far as to say that that is a demo reel. Maybe more of a show compilation or something. If you only do "show type" stuff maybe include interviews or more interesting shots. Liked the shots but wanted more. ALSO.....you had the music synced sometimes and other times not and it was really bothersome. I dont think that the music in the background was even the band (maybe it was) but when there is music playing and you can see a singer singing you cant hear it, it takes you out of it. Should play around with crash zooms and stuff too. Looked a little static

I saw your clip. I am co- producer of Denver' Heartbeat , a music show. I have shot over 200 live shows . with out the proper editing on the fly equipment it is very hard and long hours to edit and sync up everyone in the band . I did not see any cross fading or dubble fade shots . tilt the camera to a side and get some angel shots and get real low and close and zoom in . such as get the guitarist picking the strings with his pick or get some close shots of the facial expression.
This takes some time to get use to but you will be glad you did. go to www.denversheartbeat.com and see the photo of the equipment you need to help. best of luck!

yes, needs to show more versatility, maybe some interview stuff if you do that. More close ups would do wonders, also some different colors. If you have any influence over the lights, get some different stuff up, if not at least play with the white balance or do some grading

thanks for the replies so far

all of the shots in there that are steady shots i didnt really have any creative control on those projects i was told to to film steady footage with a tripod.

i definately agree that i need more variety in the shots though i just dont have the footage at the moment but i hopefully will soon

thanks,

Cory

As someone who learned how to shoot doing tons of live shows under the worst conditions find solace in the fact that the more you shoot the better you will get ive done a lot of last minute concerts and it can be crazy, from rabid fans, union governed venues who will sabotage your audio feed cause you are not union, to arrogant talent who wont cooperate, all of these challenges will make you a stronger shooter. so just keep on shooting and you will be fine
