My first musicvideo

Hello DVXUsers.

I just finished production of my first musicvideoclip and wanted to share it with you. It was a pretty head over heels no-budget production. Because of time issues we had about 2 days for the script, preparing and shooting and spent about 50$ for props and food. The camera is handheld all the time and I just worked with available light (because we had no budget and no time for proper set up).

I would be really happy if you could give me some feedback on that clip : )

You can download the video and a little making of... here. When you click on the link you have to scroll down and click on the free button. On the next page wait for about 30 seconds and then you ca download it. Sorry for the inconveniences but I found no other webspace for the clips.

welcome Klaus.

dude for something with no budget and limited time i think you did a good job. i like the video. i love the shot of the guy as he asks for 5...so funny.

i think the editing flows pretty well with the song, i like the grimmy look it has. i think with a few more bucks and some gear (lights/dollys/whateva) you could do some cool shizzle...

how were you able to shoot in a bar and with dancers? you have friends at that joint?

anyway, good luck with it all man....keep posting more work!

Thanks man : )
You're right, the bar actually is a bikers clubhouse (pretty cool place but awfully dark with black walls) and the drummer knew some guys there. The dancer is also a friend of the band and I'm so glad she came because she's not only pretty hot but adds to the story because even she can't distract the guy from his mission.

Very cooool. Loved how you saved the performance to the last 25% of the video, I really got into the story that way. Loved your cuts and cut points. I've seen $200,000 videos that were no better. Proved my point again, there's a million of us out here with talent. As was said to me a few months ago, can't wait to see what you do with a budget. Ciao. We're are you located btw?

Thank you very much :D
Originally I planned to be lip-sync earlier in a few scenes but without leaving the story. For example @ the first "Set me free". Would have been cool but we had no playback until the rehearsal room and I also wanted to put my concentration rather on the "acting" wich was hard enough. For the next time I try to take more time and better preparation rather than more budget ; )

I'm from Munich, Germany, earn my money with editing and got into filming around last year. This is my second production and I'm eager to do more : )

Honestly I think the story is moving too slowly and ends with no real point or punch. They steal this girl and she sits there as they play their instruments, and it took minutes to get to that point with no reason for them doing it. Budget aside I think you should have developed the script more and work on the fluidity of the story. When it jumps into the jailyard sequence it's just moving too slowly for fast paced music.

Hi Mad1,

I'm sorry you didn't get the story. This guy has a reason for the girl is his former punisher in the jailyard sequence which is actually a flashback. I don't think the music is really that fast paced but in the end. That's why the editing is slow in the beginning (with many slomos) and gets faster in the end.
