So I have 3 x Sony A7s cameras and after about 15 weddings one of them started having issues this weekend out of nowhere. The dial on the back stopped working properly. Anyone ever had this issue before?
The little dial where your thumb rests where you can change the shutter speed or aperture just quit working correctly. When you scroll it, the shutter just goes from say 1/60 to 1/80 then back to 1/60, then to 1/80 and so on. It does not keep going up no matter how fast or how slow or how far you scroll it. If you switch it over to control the aperture, it does the same thing (eg. it'll go from 3.5 to 4.0 then next to 3.5 then to 4.0 no matter how much you scroll that one wheel on the back). The camera worked perfectly through 15 weddings. The front dial works fine and to adjust the shutter/aperture we had to go into settings menu, switch what we wanted to adjust to the front dial, make the adjustment, and then switch back if we wanted to adjust the other setting. Crappy workaround. Contacted Sony and they weren't sure what's up. Did a simple settings reset and initialize and it's not that. It's hardware. The dial. Using only Sony e-mount lenses and again, the camera worked great for about 6 weeks before this. Obviously covered by warranty, but still a bummer. Anyone had this issue on any camera before?
