My first grabs and a video montage

ok, being the chicken **** wanker that I am I've never posted anything yet, and although I haven't really shot very much since I got my DVX, I thought I'd at least share some of the stuff I've done to give back, especially considering I've enjoyed all the clips and stills everyone else has posted (and the risks some of you took in doing so!). So, here are some grabs and a small video montage (the shots probably change too fast to really know what you're looking at; anyway, it was a first try at editing)

The video montage

The grabs

you have given back something good, nice work.

Thanks for taking the time to look, greatly appreciated.

I've also updated my post to advise using the 'full screen' mode when viewing the grabs so that the images are a little bigger.

everything looks hot. I like the shot in the montage where its very depth-of-fieldy with the woman walking down the sidwalk from far away. The stills look very good as well. Did you shoot these with the 100 or the 100a. Any lighting/extra equipment

I love bricks.

The color, the texture.

I liked the grabs a lot!

In the video, why did the flower focusing seem.... very artificial?

Good stuff otherwise!

Slimothy - Yes, this area of Seattle (old town Ballard) has some great potential that I definitely intend to use, I love the brick roads and the narrow, almost European looking, sidewalks.

Coffee - Sexy is good ;-) thx.

RealityMS - Thx, this was the 100A, everything was available light using the F5 setting tweaked a bit, can't remember the defaultsbut the current settings are: Detail level -7, Chroma level -2, Master Ped -6, V Detail Thin (not that I really fully comprehend most of these, I basically jacked them from Nancy Schreiber's 'November' settings (I think) ;-)

Luis - Thanks, didn't realize anyone noticed that I had been slacking! ;-)

LeSeulGiraffe - Brick roads especially, great mood and character... as far as the flower focusing, I have no idea why it looks like... artificial, perhaps because I'm a wanker? Seriously though, I have no idea what some of the stuff I do even "looks like" because I've stared at it so long that I lose context, so maybe I just pulled the focus to slow/fast/weird/unnatural? Thanks for the feedback.

thanks, windtreker. No, not a feature yet, just a montage of locations and images to show what footage from the DVX can look like when shooting at night.

The only caveat with this is that if I was shooting actual actors and dialogue with such a slow shutter speed it probably wouldn't work too well (unless I really wanted that blurred effect)... I haven't experimented with humans and dialogue under these low light conditions yet but would like to know (and see) what the slowest shutter speed you can have before getting a distracting visual effect.

*I pull the grabs from within Vegas.

Some interesting shots, a few in there I absolutely love. Great job & thanks for sharing! It gives some good ideas.

geez...that was nice! You certainly have an eye for the shots....liked under the bridge...and the crossfades were cool...music was well matched too.

Smithhouse and ProfD, thanks for the feedback (not sure if "Mr." Murphy is necessary, though I am feeling kinda old lately!) ;-)

ProfD, I'm glad you thought the music fit well, I wrote that piece. Actually, it was my music that led me to film and getting the DVX, I really want my music to have visual support, so, either music videos or even more exciting to me is the possibility of having my music support someone's film and story and scenes, perhaps my own film someday, or at least one that I worked on.
